Many folks, and I'm one, prefer REGULAR weight guns. This would be verified by there only being one screw that holds the side-plates on the receiver.
LC SMITH SERIAL SERIAL NUMBER
Hello Nikos, wow, your relatives sure had good taste in shotguns! (Except for the Parker of course! ((Just kidding!)) This year hunting season i am seriously thinking to go hunting with 1 1/16 oz cartiges. On the top right barrel it is written:LC SMITH IDEAL GRANDE, on the left top: ARMS CO MFRS FULTON N.Y USA(on the "base-mirror"), under the barrels R22729 LONDON STEEL and in the middle (also under both barrels) C44S. It was like i found a treasure because i realised it was an LC which i've read about while i was dealing with informations about my PARKER.
It was given to him by his brother in law, twenty years ago. My late father owned LC without me knowing about it. I need to say here that this summer, a good uncle of mine gave me a Parker VHE 16 ga 1937 which i instantly felt in love with. Propably an immigrand relative of mine brought it with him from U.S. Posted by NIKOS VROUVAS on September 17, 2013, 11:36 am, in reply to " Re: Serial number look up " You're quite welcome Nikos! I ran the number that way and it comes back 1947. Hello again Nikos, no worries at all! If your serial # had been FWS 27229, it would have been a later Marlin gun and would have been made in 1947.
